About

Open DIPS is our initiative to enable everyone to build great systems that share data securely with DIPS. In Open DIPS you'll find a developer portal where you can explore our APIs, and a test sandbox where you can develop your application with synthetic data from DIPS.

FAQ

Is Open DIPS free of charge? Everyone can sign up and try the APIs in our starter product for free. As a user on our free tier you get very limited support from us at open@dips.no, and you are restricted to 50 API calls per month. If you require more please submit an application to become a DIPS Partner.

What do I get as a DIPS partner? As a DIPS partner you get access to both marketing and technical support from us. All our partners get a Slack channel where they can directly communicate with us at DIPS. You do not have any restrictions with regards to number of API calls. You can also get access to the desktop application of DIPS Arena, where you can see how your system fits into the clinicians workflow. In addition, you get early insights into new services that are in development. Check our partner pages and submit an application to become a DIPS partner for more information.

What test data do you provide? In Open DIPS you'll find the usual Norwegian test patients, in addition to other data related to these patients. We're also working on a synthetic data generator, which our partners get early access to. Currently it allows you to describe your patient population and their diagnoses, and have them stored in the Open DIPS sandbox for testing. To see some of the data in our sandbox you can visit the test data page here. On the test data page you'll find users to authenticate with, together with some test patients that provide a set of data for our APIs.

How can I get my app into production at the hospital? Open DIPS is currently only a testing sandbox, so to get your app into production at the hospitals we'll need to collaborate. Get in touch with us through the partner form to get more information.

Is Open DIPS installed in the hospitals? Open DIPS is not installed in the hospitals, but is rather a testing sandbox and a way for you to verify your applications before collaborating with us to go in production in an earlier stage.

What is FHIR and how does the hospitals use this? FHIR is a standard for health care data exchange, published by HL7®. The Directorate of e-health in Norway recommends HL7 FHIR for sharing data. Most FHIR API´s in Open DIPS are available and installed in the hospitals in Norway. You are not able to reach the hospital through Open DIPS, but the API´s are the same, meaning you can test your solution against our sandbox and then plug and play your solution into a hospital.

What are the terms of service in Open DIPS? You can find the terms of service at open.dips.no/terms.

Where can I get help? If you are a DIPS Partner you can ask us anything in the Slack channel we've created for you. If you're not a DIPS Partner you can send us an e-mail at open@dips.no and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
